WEHRLEIN MAKES F1 RACE RETURN

In a post made on popular social media Twitter, Pascal Wehrlein revealed the extent of his back injury and is also thanking Sauber for their hard work in helping him return to fitness as soon as possible.


Earlier in January, the Sauber team driver had fractured three vertebrae in his back in a crash at the Race of Champions. He was forced to miss the opening two roundsof the Bahrain Grand Prix due to a lack of fitness.

However, he did not fail to impress during the third round of the Prix on his Formula One race debut for the teamwhere he finished at 11th position.

The 22-year old Wehrleinposted images on Twitter earlier in the week, Monday precisely. The images showed him in a neck brace during the early stages of his rehabilitation from the injury.

Wehrlein, who is of German-Mauritian extraction, believes that the extra time he took away from F1 to focus on his training was quite vital to his early recovery. He also was surprised at his level of fitness on Sunday during the race in Bahrain.

Speaking, Wehrlein said:

“I’m surprised how good it is. But that’s what we could have expected because the strength went away but it’s coming back quite quickly.

“You can see what a big change these two weeks of training have been to me and I’m just really happy overall.”

Speaking of the race, he stated that in terms of performance, the race was a good one and for him to have made such a comeback, remained a thing of joy.

He also noted that he was feeling quite good fitness wise, although he felt some pain in his back, which he usually has after a long race.
